What a layered logo wall sign includes
A logo wall sign is a custom-built wooden feature made from one or more laser-cut layers. The front face carries your logo, name or wording, while the backing can be plain, painted or shaped to suit the wall. We make these signs for reception areas, shop interiors, meeting rooms, studios and event spaces where the branding needs to be seen clearly and read from a distance.
Depending on the design, the sign may be cut from MDF, plywood or solid timber-look board, then sanded, assembled and finished for indoor use. If you want a cleaner corporate look, we can keep the profile flat and neat. If you want more depth, we can build up the layers so the logo stands proud from the wall and catches light better during the day.
- Single-layer or multi-layer construction
- Cut-to-shape lettering and symbols
- Painted, stained or natural wood finish
- Suitable for reception, retail and event branding
Sizes, thicknesses and layout options
Most logo signs are made to order, so the size is set by your wall space and the detail in the artwork. Small signs for shelf backdrops or office entrances can start at around 300 mm wide, while larger feature pieces for foyers or shopfront interiors can run to 1200 mm wide or more. Height depends on the logo shape, especially if the design has wide lettering or a circular frame.
We normally work with layered material thicknesses from 3 mm to 9 mm, and in some cases combine layers for added depth. If the sign must be viewed from across a room, thicker lettering and stronger contrast are better. For fine detail, we may simplify tiny elements so the sign stays readable and practical to produce.
- Typical widths: 300 mm to 1200 mm plus
- Common material thickness: 3 mm, 6 mm or 9 mm
- Choose portrait, landscape or round formats
- Optional cut-out backer panels for contrast
Best uses for offices, shops and venues
These signs suit places where the branding needs to look polished without feeling too formal. A reception wall in Somerset West, a salon in Stellenbosch, or a boutique in Cape Town can all benefit from a wooden logo sign that softens the space while still making the brand clear. They also work well in guesthouses, wedding venues, coffee shops and maker studios.
For commercial spaces, wooden logo signs are often chosen because they hold up well indoors and give a warmer finish than flat vinyl alone. They are also handy for temporary setups at launches, markets and pop-up events where you want the brand to look consistent from one stand to the next. Coastal areas like Strand, Gordon's Bay and Hermanus are fine for indoor use, but we do recommend keeping the sign away from direct damp exposure and open weather.
- Reception walls and waiting areas
- Retail feature walls and fitting rooms
- Wedding backdrops and event entrances
- Studios, salons and creative workspaces
Installation, wall fixing and power needs
Most logo wall signs are fitted with concealed mounting points or a stand-off method, depending on the size and weight of the piece. For a light indoor sign, strong double-sided mounting tape or adhesive standoffs may be enough on a smooth painted wall. Bigger signs usually need screws and wall plugs into plaster, brick or timber battens. We can advise on the best fixing method once we know the wall finish and sign dimensions.
No gas is needed for these signs. Power is only needed if the logo includes lighting, and even then the electrical side is handled separately from the wooden structure. If your building is affected by load-shedding, a non-lit sign is often the simpler choice because it works all day without any power backup. For installation, make sure the wall is dry, level and fully cured before mounting, especially after fresh painting.
- No gas connection required
- Power only needed for optional lighting
- Mounting method depends on size and wall surface
- Allow for dry, cured paint before fixing
Care, cleaning and long-term use
Indoor wooden logo signs need very little upkeep. Dust them with a soft dry cloth or a clean microfibre cloth, and avoid soaking the surface with water. If the sign has a painted finish, a lightly damp cloth can be used for spot cleaning but do not scrub hard. In humid coastal areas, it is best to keep the sign away from direct steam, aircon drip lines and areas where condensation builds up.
If the sign is in a busy entrance or retail space, check the fixing points from time to time to make sure nothing has loosened. A sign that is properly mounted and kept dry should last well for years. If a layer gets chipped or a letter loosens after moving premises, we can often repair or remake the affected section instead of replacing the full piece.
- Dust regularly with a soft cloth
- Avoid soaking, harsh chemicals or abrasive pads
- Keep clear of direct moisture and steam
- Inspect mountings after relocation or repainting
What to send us before we start
When ordering a logo wall sign, the most useful thing is a clear version of your logo in a vector file if you have one. If not, send the best file you have and we will check what can be done. We also need the finished width or the wall space available, plus a photo of the wall if the sign is being fitted into an existing interior. That helps us judge proportions and fixing points.
It also helps to know whether the sign is for a home, a shop, a wedding, or a corporate reception. Tell us the finish you want, whether the sign must be installed indoors only, and if courier delivery is needed to Stellenbosch, Cape Town, Paarl, Hermanus or further afield. If you need matching pieces for a launch or chain of branches, we can produce a consistent set from the same artwork and colour references.
- Logo artwork or a clear image file
- Target width or available wall size
- Wall photo and finish details
- Preferred finish, colour and delivery area
