Bulk Order Production

Bulk Order Production is for repeat items that need to look the same from first piece to last, whether you are ordering event signs, retail stock, hospitality pieces or company gifts. We cut, engrave, finish and pack in Somerset West for delivery across the Western Cape and nationwide by courier.

What bulk production covers for your order

Bulk production is the right fit when you need 25, 50, 200 or more items that must match in size, finish and layout. We work with wooden gifts, table numbers, counter signs, branded tags, hospitality room pieces, menu holders, keep-sake items and retail display stock. The aim is simple: a repeatable run that looks neat, packs well and arrives ready to use.

Our Somerset West base supports orders for Stellenbosch, Cape Town, Paarl, Hermanus, Gordon's Bay, Strand and Durbanville, with courier shipping to the rest of South Africa. For businesses that reorder often, we keep the agreed artwork and production notes on file so the next batch is quicker to quote and easier to match.

  • Batch production for events, gifting and retail supply
  • Consistent sizing, engraving depth and finish across all pieces
  • Optional assembly, cord fitting, holes, magnets or stand components
  • Courier packing for safe transport to stores, venues and offices

How the bulk order process works

Every batch starts with a clear brief. We confirm the item type, quantity, material, wording, logo placement, finish and deadline. If you already have artwork, we check it for production readiness. If the artwork still needs adjustment, we will tidy linework, spacing and size so the final pieces cut cleanly and stay readable.

Once approved, production moves through a set sequence so the run stays consistent from start to finish. This matters on larger jobs because one loose setting can affect the whole batch. We also keep an eye on grain direction, engraving contrast and the way pieces stack for packing, especially for coastal orders where humidity can affect timber movement.

  • Step 1: Brief, quantity and spec confirmation
  • Step 2: Artwork check and production setup
  • Step 3: Sample or first-off approval where needed
  • Step 4: Cutting, engraving, assembly and finishing
  • Step 5: Quality check, packing and dispatch

Materials, sizes and finish options we use

We work mainly with plywood, solid wood blanks and other timber sheets suited to laser cutting and engraving. Typical thicknesses range from 3 mm to 9 mm, depending on the piece and how much strength it needs. For layered signs and display pieces, we can build depth with multiple sections so the finished item has better presence on a shelf, wall or counter.

Sizes are set to suit the job, from small gift tags and name discs to large wall signs and branded interior pieces. If the item will be handled often, we can add sanding, edge clean-up, clear sealing or fitted backing so it lasts better in shop use. For venues near the coast, we usually recommend a finish that offers a bit more protection against moisture and day to day handling.

  • Sheet thickness options: 3 mm, 4 mm, 6 mm and 9 mm
  • Common piece sizes: 40 mm to 900 mm, depending on the design
  • Finish options: raw, sanded, sealed, painted detail or layered build
  • Packaging options: grouped sets, labelled packs or individual wrapping

Turnaround times for repeatable batches

Turnaround depends on quantity, the number of parts in each item, whether finishing is included and how busy the machine schedule is. Smaller repeat jobs can often move faster, while large mixed orders need more time for cutting, gluing, drying and packing. If your order is for a fixed event date, let us know early so we can plan the run properly.

For many standard bulk jobs, lead times are measured in working days rather than weeks, but larger retail and hospitality runs may need a longer window. Load-shedding planning also forms part of the schedule, so we build in time for machine work and finishing stages that cannot be rushed. If there is a tight deadline, we will say upfront whether it is realistic or not.

  • Simple repeat runs: usually quicker once artwork is approved
  • Layered or assembled items: allow extra time for glue and drying
  • Courier orders: add transit time after dispatch
  • Rush requests: handled only if the production queue allows

Pricing that makes sense for larger quantities

Bulk pricing is based on unit quantity, material choice, design complexity, setup time, engraving area, finishing and packing requirements. A plain cut shape in quantity costs less per item than a multi-step sign with layered parts and hand finishing. We price fairly and keep the quote clear, so you can see what is driving the total before production starts.

Where possible, we help clients save by standardising size, reducing unnecessary variation and grouping items into efficient production runs. If you need multiple deliverables for one event or one retail range, we can often plan the job so the same material sheet or artwork setup is used across the batch. That keeps waste lower and the price easier to manage.

  • Unit cost drops as quantity increases
  • Setup fees may apply for new artwork or complex formats
  • Assembly, sealing and special packing are priced separately where required
  • Courier charges are added based on size, weight and destination

Care and maintenance for repeat supply items

Good maintenance extends the life of wooden pieces, especially in busy shops, hospitality settings and event hire stock. For items used indoors, a dry cloth and gentle handling are usually enough. Avoid soaking, harsh chemicals or leaving timber pieces in direct sun for long periods, as that can cause movement or fading over time.

If your batch is part of a recurring order, we can suggest an inspection interval so you know when to check for loose fittings, edge wear or surface marks. For high-use items, a monthly or quarterly review often makes sense, while lower-use pieces may only need a seasonal check. This is especially useful for signage and display items that are packed away between events.

  • Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth only
  • Keep away from standing water and strong cleaning agents
  • Check fittings and glued joints before each event cycle
  • Store flat, in a dry place, out of direct sun

Questions we get asked

Can you handle mixed bulk orders with different names or wording?

Yes. We can run batches with repeated layouts and variable text, such as staff names, guest names, room numbers or table sets. We will set the artwork so the variable details stay consistent across the order.

Do you supply a sample before the full batch?

Yes, if the order is complex or the quantity is large, we can prepare a prototype sample or first-off piece for approval before the full run starts.

Can you courier bulk orders outside the Western Cape?

Yes. We pack carefully for courier delivery nationwide, including Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and other major centres, as well as regional towns.
